Starting to CompeteThe great thing about golf is that you can compete against any player even though you may be a beginnner. That's because of the handicap system. Basically you can start competiting straight after you receive your greencard. You should first go to the competitions in your own club There are many types of competitions. The first type are the friendly open type competitions. They're usually open for everyone, and the aim is to have fun, because the prizes are usually very small. The second type are business competitions, they're usually invitational, which means that you have to be invited to play in the competition. They're usually places to meet collegues and make business agreements. The last type are professional competitions, they're usually invitational, and not very friendly. The prizes are very large, and you have to be very good to play in them. One thing to remember in all types of competitions is that remember to follow the rules all the time. You maybe disqualified for braking some of the rules. |
